Morning Session

09:00 – 09:30 Welcome and Introduction Welcome address & update of The School of the Shaykh (Amir Malik Ruiz) Presentation of this seminar (Mohammed Mujtar Medinilla) – aims and themes – format of work – general organization of seminar – meaning of this seminar 09:30 – 11:30 Hajj Ahmad Gross: Our European Heritage Brought to Life by Islam The education of the educators. Education seen by Goethe, Schiller, Nietzsche, Rilke, Heidegger and E. Jünger (participants should prepare by reading Shaykh Abdalhaqq Bewley’s lecture “Root Islamic Re-education”, Granada, January 2014, see email attachment) Format: brief outline (30 min), followed by a general discussion (90 min), which shall open our future terrain 11:30 – 12:00 Coffee Break 12:00 – 14:00 Hajj Muhammad Mujtar Medinilla: Proper Character of The School of the Shaykh The School of the Shaykh as nemesis of the current system. Present state of education. Analysis of our context: destruction of every notion of culture and education. Complete mercantilization of education from WW2 until now. Our vision and mission. Basic demands. Legacy of our first school called ‘La Maestranza de Granada’ Recuperation of our aims: Building of the character of a complete man. Transmission of classical culture in our school. A segregated school by gender in order to form men and women. Contributions of the British Public School. 19:00 – 20:30 Muhammad Mujtar Medinilla: Teachers’ Formation Process and Preparation Our formation during two generations, since the end of the 70s (dialectics between Modern School and Traditional School). Experiences at university, personal initiatives, interests and vocation. The teacher of ‘The School of the Shaykh’ (qualities, abilities, engagement etc). Continual formation. Nurturance of one’s own talents. Leadership. The times of the teacher and times of the student. Legal requirements: qualifications, validations of titles / exams etc. Ideas for our future work, training plans, organization etc. Format: general presentation (45-60 min), followed by general discussion (45-60 min)
